High Security Doors, Security Gates and Other Important Security Equipment

All of us agree that when it comes to protecting your family and home, you should leave no stone unturned and take no shortcuts. With all of the attention to detail expressed by many homeowners it is amazing that one of the most commonly overlooked items of home security is the incorporation of secure external doors. The truth is: Many homes are not equipped with high security doors and security gates, two items that are the best defense against home invasion.

Doors need several key factors to be truly secure. First, external doors should be constructed of a durable, solid, strong material such as steel. Hollow doors or doors with too much glass are not secure because they can be easily broken. If your door must have glass in its design, choose laminated glass. It is much harder to break than other types of glass and is a more secure option.

Secondly, make sure your exterior doors are equipped with a deadbolt lock. Lastly, check the door frame for security issues. The door should be hung on three strong, 4″ hinges to offer high security, and the frame should be solid, in good condition, and securely fastened to the house.

Metal gates provide high security

Perhaps the best way to secure your entryways, especially those with sliding glass doors or French doors, is by using a metal gate. By installing secure gates you can ensure your family’s safety and well being.

While gates are usually fashioned from wrought iron or steel they are far from being cold and ugly, these products can be elegant, beautiful, and custom made to blend with and enhance your home’s d?or. You can choose from gate styles such as southwest, traditional or contemporary, just to name a few.

Remember that nothing is more important that protecting your family. Make sure your home is secure with the proper doors and gates.
